Job Description

CNBC is seeking aWall Street Editorto build and lead our expanded coverage of deals, banks, brokers and asset managers. CNBC is already a leader in breaking news and delivering insights on the global financial system. The new editor would lead a team that would elevate CNBC’scoverage of mergers and acquisitions. The reporters would highlight the people behind the deals and give our audience unrivaled insights into the world’s most important financial institutions.

The editor would collaborate with CNBC’s on air journalists, leveraging their reporting and building out their exclusive stories. The editor would guide reporters and navigate sourcing to deliver scoops on the biggest deals and financing stories. The role would be strategic: setting reporting priorities across finance, including banks, brokers, fund managers and private markets players.

The elevated financial coverage will be tailored to CNBC’s broad audience, including television viewers and our growing digital subscribers. The editor will need to seamlessly integrate television with our digital coverage and boost the audience for both. The role will include launching and growing a major initiative linked to CNBC’s Dave Faber, which will offer readers his deep knowledge of finance and deal making.

Responsibilities

  • Expand and manage CNBC’s Wall Street coverage including deals, finance and banking
  • Hire reporters and work with existing staff to deliver major scoops
  • Launch initiative on deals, deal makers and deal analysis
  • Develop strategies to engage readers and broaden CNBC’s digital and television audience
  • Generate strong analytical stories about key financial events
  • Coordinate between CNBC’s television and digital offerings, leveraging the capabilities of each to dominate coverage of deals and finance.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Hybrid:This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range:$170,000-$210,000.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience editing and managing for a major business publication
  • 3+ years building and managing reporting teams that deliver significant scoops
  • Ability to edit complicated stories for a broad audience
  • Strong understanding of finance and deals and ability to prioritize coverage
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills

Desired Characteristics (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Background in investing, markets or finance
  • Experience appearing on television in a variety of formats
  • Deep well of sources in finance industry
