Streamland Media’s Picture Shop is excited to offer an opportunity for a part-time Color Assist to join our New York team. Picture Shop is an award-winning global production company specializing in color, VFX, and finishing. Our talented artists have helped create the distinctive visual looks of some of today’s most acclaimed television series and feature films.

As a Color Assist, you will support professional colorists, producers, and production teams across film, television, and commercial post-production. You will help prepare and organize projects for color sessions, manage timelines and media, support color and editorial workflows, perform technical quality control, and help keep projects moving smoothly through the finishing process.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize projects, media, and timelines for color sessions, ensuring all elements are accurately linked, conformed, and ready for the Colorist.
  • Create and maintain accurate timelines using EDLs, AAFs, and other editorial turnovers, including cutting and moving clips between timelines as needed.
  • Perform color tracing and maintain continuity of established color information throughout the project.
  • Review conformed timelines against editorial references and identify missing, incorrect, or inconsistent media and timeline elements.
  • Support round trips between Color and Editorial, maintaining accurate media, timelines, and project versions throughout the process.
  • Render and prepare files in a variety of formats according to project, studio, network, and client specifications.
  • Perform technical quality control using scopes, monitors, and other tools to identify issues with video signals, levels, color, and other technical requirements.
  • Support HD, UHD, 4K, HDR, and Dolby Vision workflows as required.
  • Troubleshoot technical and workflow issues, resolving problems when appropriate and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Colorist, In-House Producer, Editorial, and other team members to communicate project status, priorities, and technical issues.
  • Manage multiple projects and changing priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Follow established facility workflows and procedures for project preparation, media management, security, quality control, and delivery.
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate clearly with Colorists, Producers, Editorial, and other members of the production team.
  • Understanding of studio security standards, guidelines, and practices, with the ability to maintain the highest levels of discretion and confidentiality when working with unreleased client content.
  • Hands-on experience with DaVinci Resolve as a professional color-finishing platform, with the ability to learn and adapt to established workflows and systems.
  • Working knowledge of file-based deliverable specifications and the ability to work accurately within established technical and delivery requirements.
  • Familiarity with HD, UHD, 4K, and HDR workflows, including an understanding of online editing, color correction, title and graphics workflows, broadcast standards, title safe, and timecode.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while working under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while demonstrating professionalism, reliability, discretion, and a strong work ethic.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Prior experience working in a professional post-production or color-finishing facility.
  • Experience supporting television, feature film, or commercial finishing workflows from editorial turnover through color, QC, and delivery.
  • Experience working with multiple studios, networks, or client-specific technical specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Experience with HDR and Dolby Vision workflows.
  • Familiarity with broadcast and network delivery standards and practices.
  • Experience with additional editorial or color-finishing platforms, such as Avid or Flame.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field preferred.
