Position Overview

The Print Design Lead is responsible for leading the research, development, and execution of seasonal print concepts across the Women's Polo business. This role serves as a key creative partner, driving print direction from concept through production while ensuring alignment with brand aesthetic, product strategy, and business objectives. The Print Design Lead combines strong creative vision with technical print expertise and collaborates closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Production, and external vendors to deliver innovative and commercially relevant print solutions.

This individual plays a critical role in shaping seasonal print narratives, influencing creative direction, and supporting the development of best-in-class print design processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Creative & Design Development

  • Lead seasonal print research, concept development, and execution across multiple product categories.
  • Translate seasonal creative direction into compelling print stories, color palettes, patterns, and artwork that support brand and business objectives.
  • Develop original print designs, engineered artwork, placements, repeats, and graphic concepts from initial inspiration through final execution.
  • Drive trend, market, vintage, and competitive research to identify emerging opportunities and inform seasonal direction.
  • Present print concepts, design strategies, and creative recommendations to design leadership and key cross-functional partners.
  • Create high-quality digital presentations, mockups, and visual communication tools to support design reviews and leadership presentations.
  • Ensure all print developments maintain the integrity of the Ralph Lauren brand aesthetic while evolving and innovating the category.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, and Production teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with mills, vendors, and development partners to achieve design intent while balancing quality, cost, and timing requirements.
  • Review strike-offs, lab dips, artwork submissions, and development samples, providing clear direction and feedback to maintain design standards.
  • Communicate print development priorities, timelines, and project status to key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, workflows, and development processes across the print function.

Product Development & Execution

  • Own print development from concept through production, ensuring technical accuracy and readiness for commercialization.
  • Maintain and oversee seasonal artwork libraries, print archives, development trackers, and digital asset organization.
  • Support seasonal product reviews and milestone meetings through the preparation of presentation materials and design documentation.
  • Partner with development teams to resolve design and production challenges while maintaining creative intent.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all print executions through strong attention to detail and follow-through.

Team Collaboration & Influence

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to junior designers and support team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, creative environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for print design, development processes, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of team capabilities, tools, and creative processes.
