Job Description & How to Apply Below
Technical Writer | Developer Infrastructure | New York City (Onsite)
About the company:
This is a rare greenfield opportunity: there's no existing content calendar, no manager handing out assignments — you'd build the entire technical content engine from zero. The company is small (well under 50 people) but operates at serious scale, running large fleets of its own infrastructure and serving thousands of customers. It's already around $10M in annual revenue, growing several times over year-on-year, and recently raised a well-backed round from top-tier venture investors.
The founding team has deep systems and infrastructure engineering backgrounds from well-known scale-up companies.
- Build and own the technical content engine from scratch — cadence, formats, and editorial strategy — so high-quality content ships without falling on engineers or founders
- Write technical guides, benchmarks, deep dives, comparisons, and customer case studies aimed at organic search and AI-engine visibility
- Partner with the product team and founders on launch content for multiple 0-to-1 product launches this year
- Interview engineers directly and turn real technical work into stories developers actually want to read and share (not marketing fluff)
- Repurpose long-form technical content into shorter social-native formats (X, Linked In)
- Write and maintain landing pages and product documentation (roughly 20% of the role)
- Stay genuinely plugged into the developer ecosystem (Hacker News, X, Reddit, Discord) and proactively pitch content ideas
- 5+ years writing technical content for developer audiences, with a portfolio of work that has genuinely traveled — pieces engineers actually share, content that's hit the Hacker News front page, or an audience you built yourself
- Deep familiarity with developer communities and how engineers discover and evaluate content
- Comfortable interviewing engineers and translating complex infrastructure concepts into opinionated, compelling writing
- Bonus: experience in developer relations, engineering-adjacent journalism, or creating content across formats (video, conference talks)
- Location:
New York City — onsite, 5 days/week - Not able to sponsor visas — must be authorized to work in the US
