The Division of Communications and Advocacy (DCA) spearheads UN Women's global communications, enhancing its visibility and engaging diverse audiences. Within DCA, the Multimedia Team produces high-quality visual content, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility. This Visual Communications Analyst role supports the Multimedia Team, contributing to UN Women's visual identity and audience engagement.

Job purpose:

The Visual Communications Analyst supports the development and delivery of high-quality visual communications across UN Women’s social media channels, editorial products, and corporate digital platforms. This role is crucial for strengthening UN Women’s visual identity, enhancing audience engagement, and improving user experience through expert graphic design, data visualization, and user interface design. The analyst collaborates with internal teams and external partners to ensure visual content aligns with UN Women's mandate and brand standards, contributing to the organization's advocacy efforts for gender equality and women's empowerment.

Responsibilities:
Develop and design social media-first graphic content, including GIFs, infographics, and illustrations, tailored for UN Women's social media accounts. Create and maintain social media asset templates for global use, making them available on Canva. Collaborate with photo editors and communications colleagues to select and prepare images, and work with video producers to integrate graphic elements into social media videos. Design infographics, data cards, and other data visualizations in collaboration with policy and programme colleagues.

Coordinate editorial design by developing illustrations and layouts for organizational communication products, ensuring adherence to UN Women's branding. Apply user interface design principles to the UN Women website across devices, collaborating with digital and editorial teams on user research, usability testing, and developing wireframes and prototypes in Figma.

Education:

A Master’s degree or equivalent in graphic design, visual communication, digital design, interaction design, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A portfolio demonstrating relevant design work may be requested.

Work experience:

Requires at least 2 years of professional experience in visual communications, graphic design, or digital design. Experience in developing visual content for digital and social media platforms, using professional design tools, and in user interface design, including wireframes and prototypes, is essential. Desirable experience includes editorial design, infographics, data visualization, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Infogram, accessibility principles, and working within an international or UN environment.
