Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Intern to join the Mariner Group team!

The Mariner Group consists of multiple imprints—Mariner, Amistad, Harper Via, and Harper Collins Español —each with its own carefully crafted focus and identity. Mariner Books is a destination imprint where authors of outstanding fiction, nonfiction, and books of lasting quality are published with creativity, vision, and care. Amistad Books is the most respected and storied imprint dedicated to publishing Black voices;

for forty years, Amistad has been devoted to honoring the legacy of Black literature, amplifying the bold and unapologetic voices of today’s storytellers. Harper Via is an imprint dedicated to publishing extraordinary international voices, offering readers the chance to encounter other lives and other points of view via the language of the imagination. Harper Collins Español publishes a variety of books for the Spanish reader, from bestselling biographies, current affairs, practical guides, business, and self-help, to literary fiction, suspense, action, and book club fiction.

• Drafts fact sheets, jacket copy, and reading group guides.
• Reads and evaluates manuscript submissions and drafts rejection letters.
• Attends various team and department meetings as interested.
• The intern will learn about the book production process and provide additional assistance as needed.

• Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
• Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.
• Applicants mustbe authorized towork in the United States.
• A resume and cover letter are required; applications without acover letter will not be considered.
• Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
• A passion for books is highly valued!
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Candidates must demonstrate effective task prioritization skills.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
