-The Assistant Department Manager, Alterations supports the daily leadership and operation of the Tailor Shop while ensuring Ralph Lauren's standards of craftsmanship, client experience, and operational excellence are consistently achieved. This role serves as a key partner to the Alterations Manager by overseeing workflow, supporting team development, coordinating client fittings and alteration requests, and maintaining efficient administrative processes.

-The Assistant Department Manager helps drive productivity, quality, and service excellence by acting as a liaison between clients, Sales Professionals, Tailors, and Store Leadership. This position combines leadership, operational management, and luxury client service to ensure every garment altered reflects Ralph Lauren's commitment to excellence.

• Support the Alterations Manager in leading and developing the tailoring team.
• Coach and mentor fitters, tailors, and alterations support associates to enhance technical skills and productivity.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.
• Reinforce Ralph Lauren tailoring standards, alteration procedures, and best practices.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes accountability and teamwork.
• Provide ongoing feedback to support individual development and performance.

• Partner with Sales Professionals to ensure clients receive personalized and elevated fitting experiences.
• Assist clients with fittings, alteration consultations, special requests, and follow-up needs.
• Resolve client concerns related to alterations and collaborate with the team to provide timely solutions.
• Communicate alteration timelines, updates, and garment completion status professionally and accurately.
• Ensure all client interactions reflect Ralph Lauren's luxury service standards.

• Support daily Tailor Shop operations and prioritize workflow based on business needs.
• Monitor alteration turnaround times and ensure garments are completed by promised shop dates.
• Coordinate the flow of garments between Sales Professionals, Tailors, and clients.
• Maintain accurate garment tracking and alteration records.
• Assist with scheduling to ensure adequate coverage during peak business periods.
• Support quality-control processes to minimize re-alterations and maintain service excellence.

• Manage fitting appointments and daily calendars for tailoring staff.
• Prepare and maintain alteration tickets, invoices, client records, and related documentation.
• Support the Alteration Tracking System to ensure accurate reporting of productivity and alteration income.
• Maintain inventory of tailoring supplies and coordinate replenishment orders as needed.
• Partner with Operations and Store Leadership on equipment maintenance and repair needs.
• Assist in maintaining departmental reports and business metrics.

• Ensure all alterations meet Ralph Lauren standards for quality, fit, and craftsmanship.
• Support training initiatives that improve consistency in fitting, marking, and tailoring techniques.
• Review completed work to ensure accuracy and presentation standards are met.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional tailoring environment.
• Support compliance with Ralph Lauren Health & Safety guidelines.
