Northeastern Global News (NGN), Northeastern University's award-winning, fast-paced, daily news organization,showcases news about innovation across Northeastern's academic and research enterprise,including but not limited to stories about discoveries, innovations across multiple fields, experiential learning, human interest stories, and campus life inside labs,classrooms, and beyond. NGN also provides commentary and analysis by faculty experts on timely topics that captivate national andglobal conversations. NGN is part of Northeastern's Communication steam in External Affairs.

NGN is looking for a talented News Reporter tobe based on Northeastern's New York City campus. The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist and versatile storyteller who can report on complex topics and write compelling andwell-researched articles. The NYC News Reporter must have several years of experience working for daily commercial newsorganizations, including covering breaking news and reporting on avariety of topics with varying complexity and under tight deadlines.

The NYC News Reporter must deliver accurate,timely, and compelling journalism across multiple platforms with aparticular focus on newsworthy stories from Northeastern University– New York City. We expect curiosity, accountability, creativity,and a commitment to accuracy and speed. This role is perfect for ajournalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has great news judgment, and understands how to reach readers across digital platforms.

Reporting to the Executive Editor of NGN, theNYC News Reporter is part of a team of journalists who work closely with media relations, social media, and multimedia teams within

Communications. It is a highly data-informed organization with ambitious goals and impeccable standards.

The position is based on the NYC campus and isfully on site, five days a week. Remote or hybrid options are not available. As is the case for every member of the Communication steam, after-hours work, including weekends and holidays, isroutinely required.

• Report, write, and publish breaking news,daily stories, and enterprise features for a large audience
• Work closely with editors to refine pitches,shape coverage, and maintain high standards of accuracy
• Develop reliable sources and maintain strong relationships across the Northeastern community and relevant stakeholder groups
• Produce stories that are clear, engaging, and accessible to readers
• Collaborate with media relations, social media, and multimedia teams to enhance stories with data, graphics,photos, and video
• Monitor analytics and audience metrics toinform reporting and follow-up coverage
• Adhere to guidelines and fact-checkthoroughly

• 5-7 years reporting experience with acommercial daily news organization (digital or print)
• Demonstrated ability to handle breaking newswith speed and accuracy
• Experience interpreting public documents,filings, and data
• Strong writing, interviewing, andsource-building skills
• Excellent news judgment
• Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and respond quickly to developing stories

• Familiarity with digital publishing tools
• Experience with multimedia or videoreporting
• Data journalism or basic visual storytellingskills
• Knowledge of SEO and audience engagement strategies

$83,870 - $118,608 Annually
