Our signature franchises include our “Best” series of consumer guides on colleges, graduate schools, hospitals, diets, cars, financial services and more. These guides provide an easy-to-digest list for consumers to better understand and compare when making their decisions.

We continue to publish annual guides of the authoritative Best Colleges and Best Hospitals rankings on our website and in print. And our U.S. News Live flagship conferences highlight important national conversations such as Healthcare of Tomorrow .

This is a great opportunity for an early-career journalist who wants a range of experiences at a national digital news outlet. You will learn: about our unique and highly respected brand of journalism; effective reporting and writing that maximizes SEO; and how to produce and illustrate articles in our content management system.

We’re looking for someone to contribute to our education newsletters and to report out news stories, as well as rankings-related stories for our Best Countries and Best States sections. We also want someone who has strong social media skills, including making video content for Tik Tok and visually compelling posts for Instagram. Experience with graphic design is a huge plus.

Research topics, interviewees, dates and other elements of newsletter content.

Engage in outreach and interviews for newsletter items.

Perform fact-checking and copy editing.

Assist with launches, such as the Best Countries launch or the Best States launch, if they occur during your tenure.

Assist with article production through our content management system (CMS).

Contribute to written coverage for news articles.

Create and post videos and other content for social media posts.

Work closely with our data team to strengthen stories and potentially create data visualizations to enhance that work.

Assist with research or administrative tasks as needed.

• Recent college grads and grad students are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university

• We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday

• All candidates must be able to work a hybrid schedule from our Washington, D.C., or New York office.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace.

• Experience working in a team and collaborating effectively with others.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with Canva and/or other graphic design programs, as well as a range of social media platforms.

• 3.0 GPA or above preferred.

• A passion for the news industry and a demonstrated interest in becoming a journalist.

• A voracious appetite for the news.
