Graphic Designer; Children's Publishing

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Graphic Designer with a passion for book design to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in all phases of book production, working collaboratively with art directors, editors, and production managers. Your creative and technical skills will ensure a smooth workflow and contribute to the successful launch of a diverse range of titles, from original hardcover releases to paperback conversions.

• Execute design corrections for reprints and prepare jacket mechanicals with precision.
• Format files efficiently for production, ensuring high-quality output.
• Create compelling layouts and designs for original hardcover books.
• Convert hardcover novels to paperback, maintaining design integrity and appeal.
• Present design concepts to art directors and editors, incorporating feedback effectively.
• Collaborate seamlessly with all members of the design and editorial teams.
• Strictly adhere to production schedules, managing time and tasks effectively.
• Provide essential assistance to the design staff as needed.
• Work closely with other in-house departments to fulfill requests in a timely and effective manner.

• 3+ years of professional book design experience, preferably within trade book publishing.
• Demonstrated talent in innovative book design, including strong application of typography, layout, and color theory.
• Solid computer design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate and present design ideas clearly.
• Familiarity with print production processes and requirements.

• Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree or equivalent design work experience.
