About the Role & Program:

WABC-TV, the flagship Disney/ABC–owned television station in New York, is the most-watched television station in the New York Television market and the United States. WABC also leads the marketinstation websites and has the highest social media engagement!

WABC-TV's 7 On Your Side unitis responsible for producing dozens of segments each year that inform and entertain, making viewers both smarter and richer. The consumer unit produces content that runs both on over-the-air broadcasts and on WABC-TV's many digital platforms. Most importantly, 7 On Your Side serves as an advocate for our viewers. For the past decade, 7 On Your Side has successfully recovered more than a million dollars each year in restitution for our viewers!!!

This internship is a part-time (24 hours), six-month commitment in the New York, New York area from January 2027 - June 2027.

What You Will Do:

Every single day, 7 On Your Side gets dozens of emails from our viewers. Each is a cry for help from someone who feelsthey'vebeenscammedor ripped off.

It's the intern's job to effectively and thoughtfully pre-interview many of these viewers todetermineif the story is worth the unit's time, effort, and resources.

As our intern, you will:

  • Be responsible forpre-interviewing viewers/guests, compiling documentation, and pitching strong stories to the producer.
  • Exercise excellent customer service skills with viewers in need, organize their documents, material and maintain the project relationship.
  • Shadow reporter Nina Pineda onnumerousshoots, learning on-camera techniques, and doing sample stand-ups!
Required

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Interest in journalism, television news, or multimedia storytelling demonstrated through coursework, student media, projects, or internships.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and communicate professionally by phone and email.
  • Experience with broadcast journalism, television news production, and/or news script writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including One Drive file-sharing workflows.
  • Experience creating social media content using mobile or web-based editing tools.
  • Experience writing in AP Style and adapting broadcast content for digital platforms.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants:
    You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available from January 2027 through June 2027
  • All candidates must be willing to work
    24 hours/week
    during a Monday through Friday schedule
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work in the New York, New York area
