About the Astor Place Theatre

The Astor Place Theatre is a historic Off‑Broadway venue in the heart of Greenwich Village. No Guarantees Productions, through NG Astor LLC, is excited to be building a dedicated team to transform the Astor Place Theatre into a dynamic cultural hub for a variety of new and innovative theatrical productions. We are revitalizing the theatre to host a new generation of productions while honoring the venue’s legacy, and looking for professionals to help us create a welcoming and memorable experience for our guests, artists, and staff.

Position Overview

The Box Office Associate provides essential support to the Head Treasurer by assisting in day‑to‑day ticketing operations, processing financial transactions, and ensuring exceptional customer service. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of the box office. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer‑focused, and effective in a fast‑paced environment, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities Box Office Operations & Sales Support (Core Focus)
  • Execute ticket sales and distribute will call tickets via walk‑up window, including processing cash and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Process ticket requests, including house seats, lottery/rush distribution, and group orders as directed.
  • Perform ticket exchanges, refunds, and seating adjustments in compliance with established theatre policy.
  • Assist the Head Treasurer with inventory management, including seat holds/releases, and inventory allocations.
  • Ensure the box office window is properly opened, closed, and secured for all scheduled shifts.
  • Serve as a liaison for customer service and ticketing phone calls and emails during scheduled hours.
  • Participate in the daily reconciliation process, ensuring all cash, credit card receipts, and system sales reports are balanced and verified.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of essential box office supplies (e.g., ticket stock, paper, cleaning supplies, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Head Treasurer to ensure the box office space and all equipment are clean, organized, and fully operational.
  • Support the Head Treasurer with any administrative duties, including vendor access or theatre entry coordination when needed.
Guest Service
  • Deliver professional and welcoming customer service to all guests, staff, and show partners, serving as a positive representative of the theatre.
  • Address and resolve guest ticketing or seating inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally, escalating complex issues to the Head Treasurer as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current show schedules, pricing structures, theatre policies, and promotional offers.
Other Responsibilities
  • Position will require work outside of traditional business hours to accommodate the demands of a theatrical venue, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Report to the Assistant Treasurer when the Head Treasurer is out.
  • Additional duties as needed or directed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a theatre, arts, or high‑volume box office environment.
  • Proven experience with accurate cash handling and financial reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in a major ticketing software platform (familiarity with Ticketmaster or similar large‑scale systems is strongly preferred).
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, reliability, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • A passion for live theatre and a commitment to creating a positive guest experience.
