The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. They are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations, meeting the needs of children, youth, families, homeless individuals, and older adults throughout Manhattan and New York City. They work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families.
The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low‑income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. It operates at community centers located in East Harlem and Yorkville, delivering programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.
Front Desk - greeting and assisting residents and visitors and maintaining a safe and secure environment. Responsibilities often include logging visitors in and out, answering phones, taking messages, and conducting rounds to observe and report any issues. Some positions may also require janitorial support, report safety concerns, and observe policy violations. These individuals are responsible for answering phones, assisting visitors, receiving deliveries, and aiding residents.
The ability to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and de‑escalate conflicts is important.
Full‑time, 35 hours per week
Role, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties- Undertake front desk daily duties.
- Keep records of arrivals and departure of residents.
- Attend to residents’ needs and concerns in a friendly and cordial manner.
- Ensure that residents follow all in‑house rules and policies.
- Monitor security video cameras and report to administration unusual activities.
- Answer calls in a polite, friendly manner and forward calls or take messages as needed.
- Accept packages and sort out daily mail.
- Be aware and sensitive to the cultural and social population served.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
- Effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Basic computer literacy required.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.
