Position: City Laborer, Bureau of Facilities Planning and Administrative Services
Location: New York

The DOHMH Transportation Unit is responsible for office relocations, transport of material, supplies, durable equipment, interoffice mail, vaccines, and disposition and removal of salvage inventory as required. The unit relies on skilled personnel who are highly motivated, physically fit, and able to accomplish their duties with minimal direct supervision.

Duties
  • Operate DOHMH vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to various job sites.
  • Load and unload trucks of materials, supplies, equipment, furniture, tools, and associated items.
  • Utilize forklifts, portable jacks, and electric jacks to complete moving jobs and other assignments.
  • Assist in storing, arranging or re‑arranging inventory and equipment within the garage facility.
  • Coordinate office relocations, salvage, and external moving jobs (relocating departmental programs).
  • Remove disassembled partitions, office furniture and cabinets.
  • Actively participate in health preparedness and emergency activations.

2. There are certain medical and physical requirements.

License Requirements: Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
