Registered Dental Hygienist positions are available in the Bronx, Manhattan and surrounding areas to provide dental care to underserved children at their schools.
The program works during the school day and does not require nights, weekends, or after‑school hours, making it ideal for working parents and those seeking a diverse, community‑focused practice.
Registered Dental Hygienist Qualifications- Must hold an active RDH license
- 1+ years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
- Valid State , reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally
- Works well with others (both children and adults)
- Able to work in a fast‑paced environment; organized, detail‑oriented, and able to multi‑task
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs
- Current CPR (BLS) certification with hands‑on live skills assessment
- Able to walk several flights of stairs on occasion as many schools are without elevators
- Assist with oral health management of all patients—be a team player at all times
- Verify patient identity using name and date of birth prior to treatment; place initials on the medical chart indicating verification was made
- Obtain oral health assessment for each patient (new‑baseline; follow‑up patient)
- Review medical history and other pertinent oral health information
- Provide oral hygiene services, including dental prophylaxis scaling, sealant, and fluoride application consistent with accepted best practices and standards
- Provide dental assistance as directed by the dentist
- Provide oral health education and individual counseling to each patient according to known oral health care practices (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing)
- Document provided dental services on the patient’s chart
- Daily travel to and from school sites
- Evenings, weekends and summers off
- School‑day schedule (about 6–7 hours, typically 8:00 A.M.–3:00 P.M.)
