Sun River Health Dental Assistant
Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non‑Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. We are looking for a full‑time Dental Assistant to join our team in Queens, New York. The role involves assisting dentists and hygienists, preparing and dismantling operatory for patient treatment, and performing duties in compliance with our systems and job‑specific standards.

- Job Type: Full‑Time
- Salary Range: $20.50 – $23.56 per hour
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,500
- Location: Sun River Health – The Maltilda Raffa Cuomo Community Health Center (Sutphin), 105‑04 Sutphin Boulevard, Jamaica (Queens), NY 11435
- Check‑in patients and notify providers that the patient is present.
- Monitor and update charts; enter date of visit, department and provider name on daily log sheet; add sheets to medical record; place and document radiographs in X‑ray folder; place treatment plans, periodontal charts, informed consent forms, referral forms, and contracts for complex treatment into the dental subdivision of the comprehensive medical record.
- Record patient appointment data daily (e.g., no‑shows, cancellations, emergencies, payment source) to accurately collect monthly dental statistics.
- Takes and processes radiographs as directed by the dentist/hygienist.
- Assists dentists/hygienists with patient care.
- Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by the department, JCAHO, organization, and overseen by the Infection Control Officer.
- Maintains supplies and instruments in dental operators.
- Maintains dental laboratory, processes instruments, and monitors lab cases (check‑in of lab cases, pouring impressions where indicated, storing cases, sending out lab cases, completing lab log sheets, etc.).
- Follows weekly and monthly maintenance procedures for all sterilization equipment.
- Minimum education:
High School diploma or GED. - Minimum work‑related experience: 0–1 year.
- Preferred education:
Vocational or technical school diploma program. - Preferred skills:
Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written).
