- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical records, taking vital signs, and ensuring accurate medical documentation within patient management software like Dentrix or Epic.
- Ensure the highest standards of aseptic technique and infection control are maintained throughout all clinical activities in compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to dental procedures or equipment used during treatment.
- Support the dental team with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to optimize patient experience.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment; familiarity with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with patient management software is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, dental instruments processing, sterilization procedures, and infection prevention protocols.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilizers, and other clinical tools confidently and safely.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while maintaining professionalism under clinical confidentiality policies.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and aseptic techniques necessary for safe clinical practice.
- Certification in Dental Radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery are advantageous.
