Summary: A Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting Dentists/Hygienists as needed and preparing/dismantling the operatory for patient treatment. The assistant will perform job duties in compliance with systems and job‑specific standards.
Job Type: Full‑Time
Salary Ranges:
- 0–2 years of service: $20.50 – $21.11 per hour
- 3–4 years of service: $20.80 – $22.33 per hour
- 5–6 years of service: $22.94 – $23.55 per hour
Sign On Bonus: $1,500
Location: Sun River Health – Inwood
Inwood Avenue, Bronx, NY 10452
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Check‑in patients and notify providers that the patient is present.
- Monitor and update charts; enter date of visit, department and provider name on daily log sheet; add sheets to medical record; place and document radiographs in the X‑ray folder; place treatment plans, periodontal charts, informed consent forms, referral forms, and contracts for complex treatment into the comprehensive medical record.
- Record patient appointment data daily (e.g., no‑shows, cancellations, emergencies, payment source) to accurately collect monthly dental statistics.
- Takes and processes radiographs as directed by the dentist/hygienist.
- Assist dentists/hygienists with patient care.
- Follow OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by department, JCAHO, and overseen by an Infection Control Officer.
- Maintain supplies and instruments in the dental operatory.
- Maintain dental laboratory, process instruments, and monitor lab cases (check‑in of lab cases, pouring impressions where indicated, storing cases, sending out lab cases, completing lab log sheets, etc.).
- Follow weekly and monthly maintenance procedures for all sterilization equipment.
- Minimum Education:
High School diploma or GED - Minimum Work‑Related
Experience:
0–1 year - Preferred Education:
Vocational/Technical School/Diploma Program - Preferred Specialized Skills & Knowledge:
Bilingual in English and Spanish (orally and written)
