Responsibilities
- Perform routine dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Assist with patient education on proper oral hygiene techniques, diet, and preventive care to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
- Collaborate with dentists to evaluate patients' oral health, identifying signs of potential concerns and assisting in treatment planning.
- Monitor patients’ periodontal health, conducting periodontal charting and assisting in the development of treatment plans for gum disease.
- Be current with advancements in dental hygiene techniques and latest advancements in technologies to improve patient care
- Associate degree or higher in dental hygiene from an accredited institution
- Active dental hygienist license in New York state
