Location: New York

The World Trade Center Health Registry (WTCHR) was created in 2002 to monitor and evaluate the physical and mental health impact on more than 71,000 persons exposed to the September 11, 2001 disaster. Housed within the Center for Population Health Data Science in a renowned and dynamic agency, WTCHR research influences national policies concerning healthcare for those who survived the attacks and contributes novel epidemiologic findings to the post-disaster public health literature.

Reporting to the Director of Research, you will be serving as the manager for a newly established sub‑unit devoted to Translational Epidemiology. As manager for the Translational Epidemiology sub‑unit, you will oversee and improve effectiveness and reach of our Treatment Referral Program, design and integrate multi‑source data pipelines for detection of 9/11‑related emerging conditions, and serve as a resource for advanced predictive analytics.

DUTIES

WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO
  • Design and integrate multi‑source data pipelines, including aggregation/harmonization of diverse datasets into a layered public health surveillance architecture that supports real‑time ingestion, data quality validation, and secure interoperability across platforms.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and anomaly detection to identify emerging health conditions, forecast risk trajectories, and generate actionable alerts for public health and WTC Health Program stakeholders.
  • Serve as the quality assurance lead for data linkage to external administrative and clinical data sources, such as EHR, CMS, NY SPARCS, and the World Trade Center Health Program.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day activities and administrative tasks associated with the Translational Epidemiology subunit in the Research and Survey unit, including WTCHR tracking of grant deliverables and oversight for interventions within the WTCHR.
  • Supervise research staff, and interns/fellows, as requested
