Overview
Design Resources Group Architects, AIA (DRG Architects) is seeking a knowledgeable, detail‑oriented Field Architect to join our team for an active New York City School Construction Authority (NYC SCA) school project. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who understands the technical, procedural, and compliance requirements of SCA work and thrives in a field‑focused role.
Responsibilities- Serve as the on‑site architectural representative for DRG Architects throughout construction.
- Perform daily field observations
, document conditions, and verify work against contract documents. - Coordinate contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and change order requests with the project team.
- Provide meeting minutes from project meetings.
- Coordinate with the NYC SCA
, general contractors, engineers, and consultants to resolve field issues. - Prepare detailed field reports
, including photos, progress summaries, and non‑conformance observations. - Monitor construction progress, quality control, and schedule adherence.
- Ensure construction is compliant with SCA standards, specifications, safety regulations, and building codes and construction documents
. - Attend construction meetings and provide architectural input on site‑related challenges.
- A degree in Architecture or related Construction Filed
. - 7+ years of architectural or construction administration experience;
SCA experience strongly preferred
. - Strong understanding of construction detailing, sequencing, and technical coordination.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
; familiarity with SCA systems is a plus. - Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced field environment.
- Prior work on K–12 educational facilities
, public school projects, or public works. - Experience with NYC code
, ADA, sustainability requirements, and quality assurance practices. - Knowledge of SCA Design Requirements, General Conditions, and reporting procedures.
