Product Designer, New Grad - US Government
Palantir Technologies is hiring a Product Designer, New Grad - US Government. This role focuses on designing software that enables data-driven decisions and operations for government and commercial contexts.
OverviewThe Palantir Design Team is responsible for the human experience of using our software. We work to create a tight-knit team environment that fosters trust, integrity, empathy, and growth. Designers at Palantir develop a deep understanding of customer problems and build generalizable, scalable solutions for complex problem spaces.
Responsibilities- Interaction and visual design: participate in multiple stages of design work, define concepts, flesh out workflows and micro-interactions, and deliver crisp, effective visual design. Proficiency with Figma is preferred.
- User research: conduct informal and formal research, visit customer offices as needed, and combine qualitative methods with quantitative metrics to inform design decisions.
- Collaboration:
work closely with product managers and engineers to prototype and implement designs, treating teammates as partners. - Technical awareness: understand frontend constraints and speak with engineers about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Type Script to inform feasible design solutions.
- Iterative design process: validate ideas early with stakeholders and users, seek and respond to feedback, and collaborate effectively.
- Collaboration and communication: build strong relationships with engineers, PMs, and other stakeholders and convey design rationale through mockups, prototypes, and design specs.
- Thoughtful product thinking: connect form, usability, engineering, and business considerations.
- User dedication: design software that serves diverse users in government and commercial contexts.
- Problem-solving mindset: thrive in technically complex, data-dense interfaces and be willing to develop subject matter expertise to deliver simple, powerful experiences.
- Active US security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US security clearance.
- A portfolio demonstrating at least one software interface design project. If parts are password-protected, include your portfolio password under 'Additional Questions' when applying.
The estimated salary range is $130,000–$135,000 per year. Total compensation may include RSUs, sign-on bonus, and other incentives. Total compensation is determined by qualifications and experience. Benefits are provided to support health and wellbeing and may vary by region.
