Architect / Sr. Architect
Location: New York
OBRA Architects is a New York and Seoul-based architecture and design firm working across civic, cultural, institutional, and urban-scale projects. The practice integrates design research, technical rigor, and multidisciplinary collaboration across all phases of project delivery. Our work engages architectural design as both a professional service and a cultural discipline, with projects developed in response to client goals, regulatory requirements, environmental performance, and broader social and urban contexts.
Projects are developed in a collaborative studio environment, with team members working closely across design, technical, and strategic roles.
- Lead and coordinate projects through all phases including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and consultant coordination
- Produce and oversee construction documents, ensuring consistency with design intent and technical standards
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, expeditors, and regulatory agencies
- Conduct code analysis, zoning research, and permit filing coordination
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field reports during construction
- Support internal team coordination, quality control, and project delivery standards
- Supervise and mentor junior staff as appropriate
- Minimum 5–8 years of professional architectural experience
- Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch preferred)
- Demonstrated experience working across design and construction phases
- Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, zoning regulations, and permitting processes
- Experience coordinating with consultants and managing multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines
- NY State licensure or progress toward licensure preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Visualization Software (Vray, Enscape etc) required.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation standards and technical detailing
- Knowledge of sustainable design strategies and building performance standards is a plus
