Head of Technical Design – Womenswear

Location: New York City (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Team: Womenswear

Reports: 3 Direct Reports

The Head of Technical Design will lead the Womenswear Technical Design function, driving fit, quality, and production excellence from concept through bulk approval. This role is highly KPI-focused and requires exceptional organizational skills, strong cross-functional leadership, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving. You will partner closely with Design, Production, and Merchandising to ensure product integrity, speed to market, and consistent fit standards across all categories.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 Technical Designers, setting clear goals and performance expectations
• Establish and maintain standardized processes, workflows, and fit protocols across the team
• Foster accountability, precision, and efficiency within the department

• Oversee fit strategy and execution across all womenswear categories
• Lead and conduct fit sessions, providing clear, actionable feedback to Design and Production
• Ensure consistent fit standards, grading accuracy, and construction quality across styles and seasons
• Resolve complex fit and construction challenges with speed and accuracy

• Act as a key partner to Design, Production, and Merchandising to align on calendar milestones and product expectations
• Communicate technical risks, cost implications, and production constraints early and clearly
• Work closely with factories and vendors to maintain quality and fit integrity

• Own and track key KPIs including fit approval timelines, sample efficiency, first-fit approval rates, and production readiness
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce revisions, delays, and development costs
• Ensure adherence to seasonal calendars and on-time handoffs to Production

• Oversee tech pack accuracy, construction details, and measurement standards
• Ensure all styles are production-ready prior to bulk approval
• Maintain documentation and audit trails for fit decisions and approvals

• Minimum 5 years of Technical Design experience in womenswear, with proven leadership experience
• Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, grading, and fit
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and process-driven with a KPI mindset
• Confident leader with the ability to give clear, direct feedback
• Strong communication skills and experience working cross‑functionally
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline‑driven, onsite NYC environment
