Overview
K—DA is a boutique architecture and interior design firm based in DUMBO, Brooklyn. We do high-end residential work throughout New York City: townhouses, apartment guts, and bespoke interiors. Our projects are complex, our clients are engaged, and our process is hands-on from concept through construction administration. We re a small studio, which means the work matters and so does the person doing it.
RoleWe re looking for a Senior Designer with 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
You will carry a portfolio of active projects from early design through construction administration, working directly alongside the principal and collaborating with a tight team of designers.
The role spans the full arc of the work. In design phases, that means contributing to schematic concepts, developing design details, client presentations, and construction detailing. You ll work through detailing problems, produce permit and construction sets, and take shared responsibility for the quality of what the studio puts out. You ll also navigate DOB filings, LPC submissions, and the particular dynamics of high-end residential construction in New York.
Whatwe re looking for
You have a professional degree in architecture and 7 to 10 years of experience, ideally with meaningful time spent on residential projects in New York City. You re comfortable producing and coordinating across all project phases. We work in Vectorworks; experience with it is a plus but not required.
You know the DOB, you ve worked with LPC, you understand what it takes to move a project through a co-op board or a landmark review. You re organized, but not rigid. You communicate clearly, both in writing and in a room.
Interior design experience alongside architecture is genuinely valued here.
Where we workOur studio is at 68 Jay Street in DUMBO. We work in-person four days a week, with one day remote. That balance is intentional: the work benefits from proximity, and we also trust our team to get things done independently.
Growth and compensationWe re a firm in an active growth phase, and we re looking for someone who wants to grow with us. There s real room here to take on more responsibility over time, and shape how the studio operates.
Compensation range: $84,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, generous PTO, a 401(k), and profit sharing.
To applySend a resume, a brief cover note, portfolio with professional work samples to careers. We will review every application and respond to candidates we d like to meet.
K—DA is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
