Architectural Manager (Studio Manager / Senior Architect – Healthcare)
Job Description

This role offers an experienced Studio Manager / Senior Architect the opportunity to lead a small, collaborative architectural studio with a strong focus on healthcare projects across New York City. You will balance hands‑on leadership, day‑to‑day studio management, and deep technical involvement in complex healthcare projects from concept through construction administration. This position is ideal for a seasoned architect who enjoys mentoring teams, managing multiple concurrent projects, and serving as a trusted client partner while maintaining high standards of design quality, technical rigor, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a studio of approximately 8–10 architects and designers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and growth‑oriented environment.
  • Serve as the primary team leader and point of escalation for staffing, performance, and people‑related matters.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day studio operations, including workload planning, resource allocation, and coordination of project assignments.
  • Monitor and approve timesheets, supporting overall studio efficiency and utilization.
  • Manage multiple healthcare architecture projects from concept design through construction administration, including both new construction and renovation work.
  • Oversee all project phases, ensuring that drawings and documents are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project goals and standards.
  • Review drawings and technical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintain clear visibility into project schedules, scopes, and deliverables, proactively addressing risks and resolving issues to keep projects on track.
  • Act as a primary client contact, managing expectations, building trust, and maintaining strong long‑term relationships.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and project production oversight, offering guidance on complex design and detailing challenges.
  • Leverage advanced Revit expertise to guide teams in model development, documentation standards, and efficient workflows.
  • Ensure all healthcare projects comply with relevant healthcare regulations, codes, and Department of Health requirements.
  • Review and oversee technical documentation throughout all phases—from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Balance studio‑wide oversight with direct project responsibilities, making confident decisions that support both team and project success.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in architecture.
  • Extensive background in healthcare architecture, including hospitals, surgical centers, and Department of Health‑regulated projects.
  • Proven experience managing teams of architects and designers and leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from concept through construction administration (CA).
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Revit with deep technical capability in production and documentation.
  • Demonstrated architectural design skills with the ability to guide and critique design work.
  • Solid project management and design management experience, including scheduling, scope management, and coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and drafting for architectural documentation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience delivering projects across New York City, particularly within Brooklyn.
  • Confident decision‑making skills with a strong focus on people management and team development.
  • High level of organization with the ability to balance studio oversight and detailed project responsibilities.
  • Client‑focused, proactive, and detail‑oriented approach to both design and delivery.
