Transit Architect Director

STV is seeking a Transit Architect Director to lead multidisciplinary transportation projects in the New York, NY office. The role focuses on metro transit projects and involves coordinating architectural and engineering teams, managing staff, and setting technical direction to elevate project quality.

• Work with multidisciplinary architectural/engineering teams to design and deliver transportation projects.
• Act as the interface and coordinator for clients, consultants, and various disciplines.
• Champion potential project pursuits, including responses to RFQs, RFPs, and other solicitations.

• Determine technical approach and design criteria with multiple design disciplines.
• Contribute to and/or lead responses to RFPs and RFQs, including fees, schedule, staffing, and project approach.
• Lead and mentor junior architectural staff.
• Perform independent investigations, studies, and architectural analysis.
• Develop design details, plans, and specifications.
• Review shop drawings and Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Serve as quality‑control reviewer.
• Use computer software as a design tool for solving complex architectural problems.
• Contribute new designs or techniques of material significance.
• Remain current in codes and technologies (IBC, NFPA, etc.) and ensure conformance with standards and technical adequacy.

• Professional degree in Architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in transportation sector design and project management, including state‑of‑good‑repair programs, ADA accessibility projects, or rail transportation projects.
• Transit architecture design experience, including station and related facilities.
• Registered Licensed Architect in the State of New York.
• Experience in the Design‑Build delivery method.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (required);
  Open Buildings highly valued.
• Excellent design, management, technical detailing, and strong verbal and visual presentation skills.
• Self‑starter with a passion for problem‑solving and a client‑focused approach.
• Proven track record of overseeing multiple concurrent projects.
• LEED accreditation or similar is a plus.
• Experience in higher education, federal, justice, health, science, tech, or city market sectors is a plus.
