Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Senior Project Architect to join our studio as a key member of our team to collaborate on the design, documentation and implementation of a diverse range of projects. The work of the studio focuses on new cultural and educational buildings to contemporary interventions in historic precincts. We are seeking a well‑rounded architect with strong design and technical expertise in all phases of design and construction.
Working closely with the lead design principal and a collaborative team of architects and designers, the role includes hands‑on involvement in the design, documentation and coordination of projects in addition to mentoring and overseeing the work of junior architects.
- Involvement in all phases of design – from initial concept and feasibility studies to schematic, design development and construction documents and administration for multiple projects.
- Active participation in meetings with clients, consultants, project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Take the lead in the preparation and coordination of the technical documents, including drawings and specifications for construction.
- Mentor junior architects and designers, providing design and technical guidance and oversight throughout the design process.
- Oversee compliance with applicable codes, standards and guidelines.
- Ensure the architectural vision is accurately implemented through construction, resolving design challenges and technical issues as they arise.
- Provide a comprehensive review of drawing sets at the completion of each phase of design.
- Leadership in initiating and integrating sustainable design strategies and energy‑efficient solutions.
- Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
- Licensed Architect with current registration in New York.
- 12+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role on completed projects.
- A proactive, self‑motivated, and collaborative attitude, with a passion for architecture.
- Experience working on institutional work for schools and cultural organizations, preferably in New York City.
- Proven experience leading the technical development of projects, including institutional and residential buildings with complex programs and sites.
- Experience in coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Software proficiency:
AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam Revu. - Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and technologies.
- Familiarity with NYC building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- LEED accreditation or other sustainability‑related certifications are a plus.
