Job Summary

The Senior Product Designer is part of a team of product designers that creates best-in-class, customer-facing, digital product experiences. This position requires strong user experience and Human Factors design expertise, business perspective, and awareness of how technology integrates to deliver a digital product. The role helps design and build products that transform the way consumers pay for their purchases and retailers grow their businesses, launching features that generate measurable business impact.

Demonstrating an ability to influence across the Digital Product Organization, the designer leads according to standards of product design excellence, models best practices, and improves digital product design delivery through team leadership, cross‑functional evangelization, and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create exemplary prototypes and experiences, alone or with others, balancing user needs, technology constraints, brand values, and KPIs.
  • Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure the design vision is implemented effectively, including meetings, design reviews, and creating design specifications.
  • Collaborate with user researchers to understand customer needs, behaviors, and pain points, and use insights to inform design decisions.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices, continuously improving design processes to keep the product competitive. Improve the efficiency of the Product Design.
  • Apply critical thinking to solve problems through design, testing assumptions, and encouraging the team to go beyond the status quo.
  • Possibly collaborate with the Design Manager to support the growth and governance of Bread's Design System, including contributing to components, documentation, standards, and ensuring consistency and accessibility across design deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Centered Design, Product Design, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of product design experience leading projects and creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes independently; proficiency with Figma, InVision, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the fintech industry, designing B2B and B2C digital products, and leading or mentoring design teams in remote/distributed environments.
  • Collaboration with engineering teams for seamless design integration, managing system documentation, and communicating updates across distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and accessibility standards, strong grasp of WCAG and inclusive design principles.
  • Skill in building and maintaining design systems for large‑scale digital products.
  • Familiarity with design tokens, component libraries, and version control for design assets.
  • Experience designing AI‑enabled or AI‑assistant product experiences, demonstrating thoughtful design decisions, trade‑offs, and learnings in AI contexts.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, identify opportunities, frame problems, influence cross‑functional partners, and drive progress in fast‑moving environments.

Reports To: Manager or above

Direct Reports: 0

Work Environment: Normal office environment. Remote or Hybrid; 3 to 4 days per month required in office if within 60 miles.

Travel: Ability to travel up to 5% annually
