As part of our Architecture practice, the Project Designer / Architect will design and deliver spaces that promote community well‑being worldwide, from healing environments to civic landmarks.
Responsibilities- Take responsibility for design of architectural projects under the direction of the Design Principal and in close collaboration with the project team.
- Independently develop alternative concepts and key components of complex projects.
- Exhibit strong design skills on daily tasks, ensuring high quality and visually compelling execution.
- Develop materials and participate in client presentations, internal critiques and reviews with various government agencies for project approvals.
- Understand code and cost implications of design decisions to ensure that design proposals are viable and compliant with project goals.
- Independently coordinate design with the multidiscipline project team through multiple phases of a project.
- Conduct internal design/work sessions in conjunction with Design Principal and Project Manager, coordinating with work of other disciplines.
- Coordinate workload of team members through multiple phases to complete design deliverables on schedule.
- Review architectural documents for areas of design conflict with the Project Architect and all other disciplines.
- Write and edit architectural specifications for key design materials and systems, working directly with senior level architects.
- Incorporate agreed‑upon changes into project documents.
- Provide construction contract administration assistance as needed to maintain design intent through construction.
- Direct the activities of other junior designers and mentor other staff members as needed.
- Contribute to design culture of studio.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Professional degree in Architecture.
- Registered Architect.
- Experience in transportation, infrastructure, healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities.
- Strong interest in sustainable design/LEED.
- Strong technical skills with knowledge in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite and other related software, Open Buildings is a plus, and graphics programs.
- Preference given to candidates currently residing in the NYC‑Metro Area.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule).
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process.
- Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
- Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications.
