DESIGNER - Women's Outerwear

A well-established apparel company is seeking a hands‑on Women's Outerwear Designer to join a small team in New York City. This role is ideal for someone with apparel design experience, strong Illustrator skills, and a good understanding of outerwear, fabrics, trims, fit, and garment construction. The designer will work closely with the merchant and technical designer and support the development process from concept through samples and production handoff.

• Research trend, fabric, trims, color, and competitive product
• Develop seasonal outerwear concepts for major retail channels
• Create flat sketches, line sheets, and detailed tech packs
• Assist with fabric, trim, lining, hardware, and outerwear detail selections
• Review samples, lab dips, trims, and fit comments
• Work closely with the merchant and technical designer throughout the development process
• Maintain organized updates to tech packs, samples, and development timelines

• Apparel design experience required; women's outerwear experience strongly preferred
• Strong Adobe Illustrator skills
• Ability to create flat sketches and detailed tech packs
• Understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrics, and trims
• Experience working in a PLM system preferred
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple styles at once
• Portfolio or samples of work required

Compensation:
Salary Range: $65,000 to $95,000 annually, based on experience.
