Location: New York
Position Overview
Assist in the daily responsibilities of the Polo Boy's Knits Design team from initial concepts, research, and development through line completion and stock production.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Sketch in Illustrator/Photoshop - flat sketches, CADs, layouts, line sheets, graphics, logos, trims
- Create, organize, manage and distribute line sheets for design presentations and global adoptions.
- Obtain and coordinate information between interdepartmental colleagues to achieve all design calendar deadlines and milestones.
- Work in PLM system - inserting and updating images, input info on BOMs
- Organize information, presentation boards, palettes, research, samples
- Research market and competitors
- Attend fittings and work with Technical Design team
- Extensively research tear sheets, mood images, trends, prints, colors, and silhouettes each season
- Assist in creating inspiring design presentation boards each season
- Sketch detailed flats in Photoshop and/or Illustrator
- CAD/render sketches with patterns, prints, and color in Photoshop and/or Illustrator
- Create, assist, and complete all design handoffs/tech packs
- Update sketches and CADs as changes occur in the line and update design board
- Assist in reviewing/approving incoming production samples, strike-offs, dips, and design submits
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the line/responsible for tracking/updating changes
- Attend all fittings and partner with PD/Technical team on all sketch and BOM updates
- Collaborate with all design teams and cross-functional teams throughout the design process
- Support day to day of all design functions
- Degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred
- Passion for active/performance/sustainable/innovative design
- Working knowledge of PLM systems
- Excellent computer skills - Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, AI and 3D design proficiency a plus
- Excellent organizational skills - must be able to communicate clearly and professionally
- Understanding of garment construction and cut and sew knit fabrications.
- Affinity and passion for RL Brand
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design preferred
- Technical skill requirements:
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop - Proficient in computer aided sketching and illustration
- Design, color, and aesthetic sensibility
- PLM experience a plus
- Works with sense of urgency and ability to complete tasks with speed, ease, and accuracy
- Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication and follow-up skills: verbal and handwritten
