We are seeking an Associate Technical Designer to support the development of women's knitwear and apparel from concept through production. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, quick to learn, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role will work closely with Design, Production, Merchandising, and overseas factories to ensure accurate technical specifications, fit consistency, and timely execution throughout the product development process.
Key Responsibilities Technical Design & Product Development- Assist in creating and maintaining technical packages throughout the product development cycle.
- Update garment specifications, measurement charts, grading, and construction details.
- Review development samples and support fit sessions by documenting comments and revisions.
- Track sample status and ensure timely communication of fit and construction updates to vendors.
- Support fit sessions and assist in evaluating garment fit, construction, and workmanship.
- Help maintain fit standards and measurement libraries.
- Communicate fit comments and technical corrections to factories.
- Enter and maintain product information within PLM systems, including Bamboo Rose or similar platforms.
- Ensure technical data is accurate and updated throughout development.
- Track deadlines and maintain development calendars.
- Partner with Design, Production, and Sourcing teams to support product development.
- Communicate clearly with domestic teams and overseas vendors regarding technical requirements.
- Assist in resolving fit and construction issues throughout the development process.
- Prepare and update measurement charts, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Utilize Excel for tracking development, measurements, and sample status.
- Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to annotate images, update sketches, and communicate technical details.
- 5+ years of Technical Design experience in apparel.
- Strong experience in women's apparel, knitwear, or sweater categories.
- Solid understanding of garment construction, fit evaluation, grading, and technical package development.
- Experience working with PLM systems such as Bamboo Rose, Centric, YuniquePLM, PDM, or similar platforms.
- Ability to independently manage multiple styles, deadlines, and development calendars.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams and overseas factories.
- Experience supporting Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Costco, or other major retail accounts.
- Experience with private label apparel development.
- Strong knowledge of women's knitwear fit, construction, and development processes.
- Familiarity with Walmart systems and approval processes.
- Experience working directly with overseas factories and vendors.
