About the RoleMQ Architecture PLLC is seeking an Architectural Technical Coordinator / Job Captain to support an active public agency architecture contract in New York City.
This is a technical, coordination-focused, and client-facing role. The position is best suited for an architectural professional who is organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on construction documentation, existing conditions, field coordination, construction administration support, and institutional client procedures.
The ideal candidate does not need to be a highly conceptual designer, but must be technically strong, professional, and able to represent MQ Architecture with maturity and consistency in a structured client environment.
Responsibilities- Support architectural documentation, coordination, and technical review for public agency and institutional projects.
- Assist with existing condition surveys, field observations, site visits, and project scoping.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate architectural drawings, sketches, reports, and technical documentation following Public Agency standards.
- Assist with construction documents, technical specifications, consultant coordination, and cost estimate support.
- Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, field conditions, punch list items, and as-built documentation as needed.
- Coordinate with client representatives, consultants and contractors.
- Maintain organized project records, meeting notes, daily time records, and task documentation.
- Support code, accessibility, life-safety, and technical compliance reviews.
- Work within client standards, documentation protocols, and CAD/BIM requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 5-7 years of professional architectural experience.
- Strong technical background in construction documents, detailing, coordination, and existing building conditions.
- Experience with renovations, existing facilities, institutional work, public agency projects, transportation, infrastructure, aviation, rail, port, or large commercial facilities is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe and Microsoft Office
. - Ability to read and coordinate between Public Agency discipline teams: architectural, structural, MEPFP, Civil.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Organized, reliable, discreet, and able to work with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to complete required client onboarding and training. Background/security screening may be required.
- Public agency, transportation, aviation, rail, port, infrastructure, institutional, or large commercial projects.
- Construction administration, field reports, RFIs, submittals, punch lists, and as-built documentation.
- Familiarity with structured agency standards, documentation procedures, and multidisciplinary coordination.
The ideal candidate is a technically minded architectural professional who is comfortable with documentation, coordination, field work, and client procedures. This role requires reliability, professional judgment, and strong organizational skills. The right person should be able to integrate into a structured institutional environment and represent MQ Architecture professionally.
