OverviewAssociate Design Manager for JLL’s Global Design team based in New York. The role focuses on design management across the Americas region, collaborating with global architectural practices and internal capital, facilities, infrastructure, and AV partners to deliver high‑impact office fit‑outs and workplace solutions.
Responsibilities- Support Design Management for projects throughout the Americas, maintaining high standards for look and feel and coordinating technical specifications with architecture, MEP, AV, IT, and other building systems.
- Work with workplace management teams to develop design solutions for business requirements and manage draw‑ing production through third‑party vendors.
- Adhere to established global design standards and processes, including standard furniture configurations and finish applications.
- Communicate written, verbal, and visual direction to consultant teams regarding planning, presentation, and standards feedback, emphasizing documentation.
- For capital projects, manage complex external consultant teams (architects, engineers, specialists) in close cooperation with project management.
- Develop and deliver architectural briefs based on stakeholder requirements.
- Oversee the design portion of capital delivery from inception to completion, managing consultant deliverables and the overall design process.
- For operational/facilities projects, provide design input and solutions for maintenance and improvements of office portfolios.
- Participate in ongoing development of workplace design strategy, standards, and process, working with planning metrics, standard space configurations, and inclusivity requirements.
- Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial interior design, with corporate interiors preferred.
- Solid knowledge of building codes and accessibility guidelines, and ability to research codes across jurisdictions (North, South, LATAM).
- Experience in architectural design with MEP and complex technical building systems, focusing on interiors.
- Understanding of design trends, history, furniture, and materials.
- Strong organizational and proactive collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong space‑planning skills with a focus on efficiencies and innovative planning.
- Extensive knowledge of design principles, aesthetics, and budget principles.
- Creative problem‑solving abilities and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
- Responsive to feedback and direction.
- Strategic mindset with ability to work under pressure and urgency.
- Technical knowledge of furniture, systems, and dealer/maker coordination.
- Technical knowledge of contract drawings, details, and construction.
- Construction administration and field experience.
- Fluent in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must submit professional portfolio of workplace projects and relevant sectors
- Progress toward architectural license or NCIDQ certification.
- Understanding of existing contracts and vendor relationships for furniture, finishes, and architectural elements.
- Ability to navigate exceptions when using non‑standardized products.
- Strong design aesthetic with attention to detail and emphasis on concept and design story.
- Experience implementing and developing process templates and protocol libraries.
- Knowledge of global standards implementation and workplace design strategy.
- Experience with photo and digital library maintenance.
- Understanding of capital delivery process and consultant deliverable management.
Estimated salary: $90,000 – $106,000 per year.
