Our client is seeking an Assistant Designer to join their Accessories team in New York! This is a full-time hour contract role. Pay is dependent on years of experience.
You must have prior Accessories experience to be considered.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design and development of seasonal accessory and home collections aligned with the brand aesthetic and customer needs.
- Create and update technical sketches, CADs, colorways, print layouts, and presentation materials.
- Support product categories including socks, scarves, hats, gloves, cold-weather accessories, napkins, table linens, ornaments, holiday décor, gifting items, and other home goods.
- Research trends, consumer insights, competitive market offerings, and emerging materials to inspire product concepts.
- Develop seasonal color palettes, print concepts, graphics, and embellishment ideas.
- Prepare design packages and maintain accurate product specifications for vendor communication.
- Assist with sample reviews, fit sessions (where applicable), and product evaluations throughout development.
- Organize and maintain seasonal design boards, line plans, and product archives.
- Partner with Product Development and Production teams to ensure design intent is maintained through commercialization.
- Track sample status, approvals, and design revisions to support seasonal calendars and deadlines.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and present design concepts to internal teams as needed.
- Support special projects and seasonal initiatives across the accessories and home categories.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent sketching, CAD, and technical drawing skills.
- Strong understanding of color, print, pattern, and material development.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
