Senior Project Architect – New York, NY
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Architect to join our team in New York City. You will lead design and documentation for transportation and transit projects, shaping the future of public infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and lead architectural/engineering teams in developing designs and preparing documentation for transportation and transit projects.
- Support projects through the entire lifecycle, from initial design through detailed construction documents.
- Prepare architectural plans and supervise their execution.
- Perform analysis of design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts, and construction details.
- Oversee research used in writing specifications, including coordinating with manufacturers.
- Conduct site and construction inspections; prepare interpretive reports.
- Execute code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions.
- Develop design layouts and construction features; research, compile, and record information.
- Coordinate with other disciplines; plan, schedule, and manage work.
- Determine technical approach and design criteria in collaboration with multiple design disciplines.
- Lead and coach architectural staff; serve as quality control reviewer.
- Use computer software to solve complex architectural problems and contribute new techniques of material significance.
- Remain current in codes, technologies, including IBC, NFPA, etc.
- Ensure conformance with standards, established practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy.
- Conduct construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings and requests for information (RFIs).
- Professional degree in Architecture (Master of Architecture preferred).
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience as a project architect in the rail/transit sector.
- Experience in the transportation sector required.
- Transit architecture design experience including stations and related facilities required.
- Registered Licensed Architect in the State of New York preferred.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Experience with Open Buildings, Rhino, 3‑D Max, Sketch Up, and LEED Accreditation considered a plus.
- Excellent design, technical detailing, and strong presentation skills (verbal and visual) essential.
- Self‑starter with passion for problem‑solving, teamwork orientation, and firm focus on client needs.
