Position Summary
As a Product Designer II on the mobile apps team, you will collaborate with design, product, engineering, research, editorial, and analytics teams to create tools that enable journalists to tell immersive and impactful stories, while shaping CNN’s mobile native experience and supporting the organization’s bottom line.
Your Role Accountabilities- You will be an integral part of the team creating the next‑generation CNN mobile apps, from small iterative improvements to long‑term vision.
- You will be embedded in a cross‑functional squad, attending all squad and team ceremonies and contributing to a collaborative culture across CNN Digital.
- You’ll partner closely with senior product designers, product managers, and engineering on features and tickets, helping to shape requirements and deliver detailed files for build.
- As a team member, you’ll collaborate on QA and testing.
- You will collaborate with product and user research on testing plans.
- You are encouraged to challenge the status‑quo, understand the boundaries of mobile technology and the CNN business, and know when to push it.
- You’ll utilize and evolve the Design System patterns to create cross‑platform compatible components.
- 2+ years’ work experience as a Product Designer.
- Knowledge of visual design elements including typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Design portfolio highlighting work in native mobile experiences.
- Familiarity with collaborating with internal stakeholders such as product management and engineering.
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in design, human‑computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
- Interest in content creation, strategy, and communication is desirable; media experience is a plus.
Pay Range: $88,900.00 – $ per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
