Junior and Intermediate Designer

We are a highly collaborative, detail oriented, and process-driven practice committed to the long term and personal growth of every member of our team. We are currently seeking highly motivated, well-organized and well-spoken junior and intermediate level architectural designers, with up to five years of experience to work with our team. At AiF you will be exposed to an unusually high level of design passion and rigor, a commitment to environmental sustainability and stewardship in the broadest sense, and you will gain experience and responsibility quickly in our fast-paced environment.

You’re likely to work on a master plan one day, and a custom sofa the next, and bring the same creative problem-solving tools to each.

• Management of projects from pre-design through schematics, approvals, bidding, contract documentation, and construction administration.
• Lead and manage all communication during project development and delivery in-house and with clients, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Work closely with the senior staff to direct the development of design presentations.
• Develop designs and coordinate the work of design consultants.
• Research products and materials and coordinate with manufacturers to develop details.
• Source architectural products, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment; manage vendors, owners, and contractor through procurement process.
• Work with contractor, consultants, and owners to resolve issues encountered in the construction process.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Up to 5 years of professional experience.
• Must be currently working and/or residing in New York City or have the ability to relocate.
• Command of written and verbal communication; fluency in written and spoken English essential. Candidates must be able to communicate with all members of the project team in one‑on‑one and group situations.
• Genuine interest in construction and materiality.
• Proactive approach to working, with an ability to take initiative.
• Command of and proficiency in hand drawing and digital representation. At AIF we deliver projects across a number of the most current digital platforms and programs:
  Autodesk REVIT (BIM), AutoCAD, Rhino3d, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office.
