Assistant, Technical Designer

Kate Spade New York is a global lifestyle brand that designs handbags, ready‑to‑wear, jewelry, footwear, home décor, and more.

• Collaborate with Design, Product Development (PD), and Merchandising teams to understand deliverables and meet deadlines for creating and passing product specs for all stages of development—from concept through production.
• Work with the designer during Proto rounds to ensure all specs reflect the designer’s intent and verify the accuracy of sketches and dimensions.
• Assist Technical Designers with final product spec updates and corrections for the season, ensuring post‑market changes are approved by the design team.
• Ensure product specs are consistent across all factories and all seasons.
• Review and correct post‑market samples.
• Create and maintain digital design detail and standards libraries.
• Research product functionality trends across the market.
• Produce CAD and artwork in Illustrator and Photoshop as needed.
• Organize, set up, and clean up design presentations; maintain the design workroom.

• Strong communication and email skills.
• Detailed note‑taking and organizational skills.
• Construction knowledge preferred.
• Flexibility to work in‑office as required by the development calendar.
• 0–3 years of experience (minimum).
• College degree in fashion design or a related field.
• Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop required.
• Experience with Substance 3D, Raspberry AI, Adobe Firefly AI, or other product design AI is a plus.
• Microsoft Excel experience is a plus.

Base Pay Range: $30.00 – $30.31 per hour.
