Location: New York
Primary Purpose
The Senior Designer, Handbags, Outlet is responsible for developing ideas and executing product design in line with the conceptual direction for a season. The role supports the Senior Design Director and collaborates with Merchandising, Product Development, Raw Materials, Technical Design, and Print teams.
Responsibilities- Participate in seasonal trend, market, and material research to support overarching design concepts.
- Assist the Senior Design Director in managing team workflow, organization, and structure.
- Manage the design process from conception through production.
- Create and maintain detailed CADs and technical specification packages to accurately communicate design intent, construction details, and material usage.
- Contribute to the overall cohesion of each seasonal assortment by working closely with other design team members.
- Ensure that product quality aligns with market trends and business strategy.
- Support the preparation of design presentations, mood boards, and visual tools for key milestone meetings.
- Build strong relationships with cross‑functional partners across merchandising, product development, hardware design, and print teams to align creative ideas with business goals.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years leather handbag design experience in a trend‑driven, aspirational brand.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to translate creative concepts into commercially successful products.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and other relevant design software.
- Strong hand‑sketching ability.
- Excellent design, conceptual, and trend‑identification skills.
- Knowledge of raw materials and construction techniques.
- Experience with graphic design and print work is a plus.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment.
