ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton is an award‑winning health and fitness brand that builds connected products and experiences that matter. We are currently looking for a hard‑working Industrial Designer with 8+ years of experience to join our team with relevant experience in an adjacent industry such as automotive, aerospace, or large equipment. In this role, you will lead and support the aesthetic, functional, and usability development of large‑scale fitness equipment throughout the full design development process.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for health and fitness and is excited to work closely with our passionate team of designers, engineers, outside vendors, and key business partners to bring ideas to life.
- Design & develop large‑scale fitness equipment and manage the development of the integrated subsystems and member input devices
- Work closely with Product Management, Mechanical Engineering, UX Testing, and Software to develop engaging fitness equipment for our members
- End‑to‑end product development from research and early concept exploration, to product DFM and launch
- Make design decisions for a product and/or component and show/explain how those decisions were made
- Use a variety of inputs to stimulate creative thinking, make design proposals, and evolve our design language
- Communicate your ideas via physical prototypes, sketches, 2D presentations, and CAD – effectively articulating your design ideas to partners across the company
- Implement all tasks with high quality – develop, deploy and maintain design intent with limited oversight
- Produce work that is free of major technical defects – you are able to debug and fix issues when they arise, mostly independently
- Troubleshoot technical challenges with cross‑functional partners and vendors to maintain design intent
- Actively engage the team in discussions and foster healthy design debates and mediate conversations between functions to help drive toward decisions
- Own and drive presenting your work – carefully crafting your presentations based on understanding your target audience
- Facilitate brainstorms within your design team to stimulate creative thinking and capture ideas
- Simultaneously work across 2+ projects at various stages of development – leading and supporting work streams as needed
- Specify CMF for all user‑facing parts and ensure production parts meet design and CMF requirements
- You have a proven understanding of the Product Development Process and are able to manage complex design assemblies. Your work is detailed, and well thought out
- You lead sophisticated projects with direction from program leaders and input from cross‑functional partners
- You have the ability to self‑define relevant parameters to work within; set and prioritize deliverables with appropriate time frames to meet program & phase gate objectives
- You ask the right questions to help inform and define outcomes/results for yourself and other designers
- You have experience bringing analog and digital products to market that meet rigorous ergonomic and usability requirements
- You have experience developing small and large‑scale mass‑produced products that use a variety of manufacturing methods including but not limited to plastic injecting modeling, metal stamping, welding, die casting, extrusions, and soft goods
- You have a passion for design in all its forms and compelling skills, including the ability to translate brand values into captivating narratives, products, and experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Highly proficient in analog and digital sketching with compelling sketch/rendering skills
- Proficient in Solidworks (working with surface modeling + curvature continuous CAD)
- Proficient in Keyshot
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
- Experience using Google Docs, Slides, Sheets (or equivalent)
- Fitness industry experience
- Advanced surfacing with Solidworks or other parametric modeling software
- Personal interest in wellness or fitness
