Client Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Freelance Men’s Outerwear Designer to join our client's Design team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of men's apparel, outerwear construction, performance fabrics, and market trends.
Salary/Hourly Rate$40/hr
Position OverviewThe ideal candidate for the Freelance Men’s Outerwear Designer role is responsible for designing innovative, commercially successful outerwear collections from concept through production while collaborating closely with Product Development, Merchandising, and Sourcing teams.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Men’s Outerwear Designer- Design seasonal men's outerwear collections, including jackets, coats, bombers, puffers, parkas, overshirts, and vests.
- Research global fashion, consumer, fabric, trim, and color trends to develop innovative concepts.
- Create mood boards, color palettes, sketches, and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Develop seasonal design concepts that align with the brand's identity and target customer.
- Prepare detailed tech packs including construction details, measurements, trim specifications, and artwork.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Technical Design teams to ensure accurate sample execution.
- Review prototypes and fit samples, and provide comments and revisions to achieve the desired fit and construction.
- Source fabrics, trims, and innovative materials suitable for outerwear performance and aesthetics.
- 4 - 7+ years of experience in men's apparel or outerwear design.
- Strong knowledge of outerwear construction, garment engineering, insulation, and performance fabrics.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience creating detailed technical flats and tech packs.
- Experience working with domestic and overseas manufacturers.
- Knowledge of waterproof, windproof, insulated, and technical outerwear materials.
- Experience with PLM systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is required.
