Porter Fanna Architecture is a collaborative, Brooklyn-based architecture studio focused on design and execution of exceptional residential and retail projects. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Designer who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex design challenges, and contributing across every phase of a project.
We are seeking a Senior Designer with 7+ years of experience in high-end residential architecture.
The role involves leading design development, producing detailed drawing sets, and coordinating with consultants and contractors throughout all phases of design and construction. The ideal candidate has strong design sensibility, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple projects with precision and purpose.
Candidates should be comfortable wearing multiple hats, working closely with principals and clients, and balancing design excellence with technical execution. Experience in construction administration, client-facing communication, and the flexibility to travel is essential.
- Design exceptional custom residences from concept through construction administration
- Develop construction documents and technical detailing
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and specialty consultants
- Participate in material, finish, and fixture selections
- Prepare client presentations and design studies
- Conduct site visits, review shop drawings and mock-ups, and collaborate with contractors
- Take ownership of projects while working closely with principals in a collaborative studio environment
- 7–10 years of experience in high-end residential architecture
- Strong design sensibility and attention to materials and detailing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; 3D modeling skills required (Revit is a plus)
- Experience producing construction documents and coordinating consultants
- Construction administration experience and confidence working directly with contractors
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Comfortable in a collaborative, fast-paced studio where initiative, flexibility, mentorship, and accountability are valued
