Company Description

Culture Fly is a pop-culture-focused consumer products company that designs original, fandom‑inspired items for both dedicated and casual fans. The team is made up of enthusiasts who view pop culture as a way of living and a shared language that connects communities. Culture Fly champions self‑expression and creativity, encouraging fans to engage with their favorite franchises in their own way. The company is known for producing beloved subscription boxes and collectibles, including the Pusheen Box, The Nick Box, and Star Wars Galaxy Box.

Team members join a collaborative environment that blends creativity, fandom, and product innovation.

Role Overview

As our portfolio of collectibles, toys and brands expands, the Collectibles team is in need of additional support. We’re looking for a Collections Product Designer to champion product development from idea to production with a specific eye towards building killer collections for Club and Mass stores. You’ll build collections from our vast library of designs, look for ways to enhance and add on to amazing designs to turn them into must‑have sets.

You’ll design new items, develop on‑shelf identity, play pattern and product storytelling for a massive portfolio of license and original creations. This role blends strategic channel leadership with hands‑on design — perfect for a creative who can think both like a retailer and a maker. This role includes frequent store shopping to gain a strong understanding of the products and licenses at retail (and what’s trending), and then translating that insight into product ideation/design.

Responsibilities
  • Concept and sketch new toy and collectible ideas across multiple product lines (plush, vinyl figures, mystery packs, building sets, etc.)
  • Store shopping frequently to understand what’s trending and how we can offer a strong line to retailers
  • Packaging design with a strong eye for how product is engaged with on‑shelf
  • Use AI image generation tools to rapidly explore concepts and present multiple directions to the team and create turnaround drawings, renders and models
  • Use AI‑assisted workflows to speed up repetitive tasks (colorways, pattern variants, style transfers)
  • Research and identify trends in worlds of toys and collectibles
  • Concept development: Develop collections, elevated value collectibles and one‑of‑a‑kind products with Club channels in mind
  • Trend & insights: Track toy, pop culture, and design trends to inspire new ideas and keep the brand fresh
  • Presentation & storytelling: Build compelling brand decks, mood boards, and pitch materials for internal reviews and retailer or licensor presentations
  • Illustration and technical skill: Must be able to create turnaround drawings of product as well as edit/revise designs based off licensor feedback
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in toy, entertainment, or consumer products design or brand management
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design for toys, packaging, or consumer brands
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); 3D familiarity (Blender, Cinema4D, or Fusion 360) a plus
  • Understanding of toy production methods, materials, and packaging constraints
  • “Out‑of‑the‑box” thinker who can ideate and design creative new products
  • Exceptional visual communication, organization, and storytelling skills
  • Passion for toys, play, and pop culture
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
