Primary Responsibilities

ECA is looking for a full-time employee to provide peer reviews of apartment alterations in co-ops and condominiums on behalf of Management and Boards. We’re seeking a construction-savvy professional who is deeply interested in and has a strong grasp of residential construction techniques, building systems, and the Code. The individual is very capable of self-managing many small projects with a variety of stakeholders, including Management and building personnel and Board members.

This requires someone who is detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication, is collaborative, and with good time-management skills. Responsibilities include providing written reviews of proposed drawings and specifications in collaboration with our engineering consultants and advising on the conformance of the proposed plans to the building’s alteration agreement, codes, and best construction practices. Reviews are followed by periodic site observations and reports to Management.

Note that this is NOT a design position; however, there may be times that you are asked to participate in charrettes or opine about construction techniques for some of the office’s projects.

Requirements
  • Mid-Career to Senior Applicant: Knowledge of and experience with residential multifamily construction in Manhattan is required. Experience working within co-ops and condominiums and their stakeholders is also required for this level of the applicant. You must have experience peer reviewing alterations or responding to building reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction techniques, building systems, and the Code.
  • An architect or engineer is required, and construction experience is valuable. An architectural or engineering license is desirable.
  • Skills:

Working knowledge of industry-standard word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), e-mail (Outlook), digital markups (Acrobat, or equal)
  • Additional

    Skills:

(Not required, but beneficial) image editing (Photoshop and Illustrator), page layout (InDesign), Revit and Enscape.
About ECA/Work Culture

We are a small architectural firm with over 30 years in business. Our firm fosters trust amongst each other and allows for flexibility in our work schedule so long as it doesn’t impede on the schedule of a project in construction. Our design projects are relatively small and are often run by only one individual. This means that each of the staff leads, manages, and does the work required for the projects to be executed successfully.

We support one another, meet regularly, and have learned and grown together as a team.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience, with an anticipated salary range of $90,000 to $140,000, plus benefits. A detailed benefits summary will be provided to qualified candidates upon request.
