Responsibilities
Seasonal Concept & Design Direction
- Assist with seasonal research to support the overall creative vision and brand identity.
- Research silhouettes, color, fabric, trim, and market trends to inspire seasonal collections.
Fabric & Trim Development
- Source fabrics and trims with our overseas vendors within target price points.
- Organize and update seasonal fabric & trim charts and maintain fabric & trim libraries.
Color & Print Development
- Collaborate with Creative Director to develop seasonal color palette.
- Responsible for the lab dip process from initial lab dips requests thru to bulk approvals.
- Prepare print development packages for artwork submissions.
- Communicate directly with overseas factories on print development and strike-off approvals.
Design & CAD Development
- Create Illustrator sketches and CADs for each delivery.
- Revise sketches throughout development based on design reviews and fittings.
- Prepare polished CAD presentations for sales meetings.
Line Sheets & Product Development
- Create and maintain seasonal line sheets from concept through production.
- Update product information including fabric, color and trim throughout the process.
- Ensure all product information remains accurate and current.
Technical Design Support
- Create Design Tech Packs including design detail sheets, fabric details and trim pitch sheets.
- Partner closely with the Technical Design throughout garment development.
- Update Tech Packs as needed following fittings and design revisions.
Fittings
- Attend all fit sessions and update sketches, CADs, and Tech Packs as needed.
- Communicate revisions to cross function partners.
Server Management
- Maintain an organized design server with:
Line Sheets, CADs, Sketches, CAD Books, Color Cards, Fabric Charts, Tech Packs. - Ensure all files are accurate, organized, and easily accessible to the team.
Cross-Functional Communication
- Partner closely with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Product Development, and overseas vendors.
- Communicate daily with overseas vendors regarding development, approvals, and design updates.
- 3–6 years of apparel design experience (Associate Designer or Designer level)
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrication, and product development
- Excellent taste level with a strong eye for color, proportion, silhouette, and detail
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a creative team
- Advanced Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- PLM experience
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about creating product with a modern point of view, has exceptional taste, and enjoys being involved in every step of the creative process. This is an opportunity to work directly with the Creative Director and make a meaningful contribution to seasonal collections while continuing to grow as a designer.
The salary range is $75K to $95K based on experience level.
This is a 5 day per week In-House job based in the Garment District of NYC. Only candidates currently within commuting distance of midtown Manhattan will be considered. We will not make any exceptions, and will not reply to you if you are not currently within commuting distance of New York City.
