Client Overview:We are seeking a passionate Freelance Women’s/Men’s Activewear Designer to represent our client, a well-known fashion brand located in New York. This Freelance Women’s/Men’s Activewear Designer will support the apparel team in creating excellent on-trend active wear products.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$40/hr – $45/hr
We are seeking a creative and trend-driven Freelance Women’s/Men’s Activewear Designer to develop innovative active wear collections that align with our brand vision and target customer. The ideal candidate has strong experience in women’s/men’s active wear design, understanding of stretch fabrics, fits, fabric development, and garment construction, with the ability to take concepts from inspiration through production-ready technical packages.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Women’s/Men’s Activewear Designer:- Research fashion, fitness, and market trends to develop seasonal active wear collections.
- Create original concepts, sketches, CADs, and technical design packages.
- Select performance fabrics, trims, colors, prints, and graphics suitable for athletic apparel.
- Develop detailed tech packs with construction specifications, measurements, and garment details.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Sourcing teams to ensure design feasibility and cost targets.
- Review prototypes, conduct fittings, and provide comments for sample revisions.
- Ensure products meet performance, quality, fit, and comfort standards.
- Work closely with Merchandising and Marketing teams to align designs with consumer demand and brand strategy.
- 4 – 7+ years of experience designing women’s/men’s active wear apparel.
- Strong understanding of stretch fabrics and garment construction.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience creating production-ready tech packs.
- Women’s/men’s active wear experience and understanding of stretch fabrics
- Able to design lines from the beginning through production
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is preferred.
