Associate Designer – Juniors Cut & Sew

About the Role Major Label Group is seeking an Associate Designer to support our Juniors Cut & Sew Design team throughout the product development process. The ideal candidate will have prior experience creating tech packs, strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills, and a solid understanding of garment construction and design specifications.

This is an in-office position based in New York City.

Responsibilities
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at an Assistant or Associate level
  • Assist with Spec / Tech packs, illustrator sketches, CADs, trend research
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong sketching ability
  • Sending packages, organizing the C&S Showroom
  • Must be able to come into the office in New York City
  • Other duties, as required, to support the design team
  • Work with the Head of Junior & Contemporary Design Teams to create a Cut & Sew line in addition to Private label projects & licensing. Apparel categories include key item fashion pieces such as dresses, tops, bottoms, outerwear, and sets.
  • Create tech packs for sampling and production, must have strong knowledge of design specifications
  • All tech packs are created within a PLM system that you will be trained on
  • Approve lab dips, strike offs, fabric qualities and samples
  • Keep track of development samples as they come into the New York Office in an excel spreadsheet
  • Participate in fittings with the Tech Team
  • Create style numbers and finalize callouts on cads
  • Organizing fabric swatches / sample garments / showroom
  • Work closely to support the Sales team in all steps of the line creation
  • Shop the market for the latest and greatest ideas and freshness
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have prior tech pack experience!
