Job DescriptionCulture Fly is seeking a highly creative Packaging & Product Designer to support the development of licensed consumer electronics, tech accessories, and retail packaging for our growing Five Below account.
The ideal candidate has experience in the design of retail packaging and/or the development of consumer products from concept through production. This role requires strong creative and technical problem-solving skills, a keen eye for emerging trends, strong graphic design and layout sensibility, and an understanding of how products are developed, manufactured, packaged, and brought to market. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing a new product concept, refining its form and functionality, creating the packaging around it, and working with factories through sampling and production.
Responsibilities- Design and develop retail packaging, packaging layouts, mockups, and production-ready artwork.
- Design and develop licensed consumer electronics and tech accessories from concept through production.
- Create product concepts, renderings, draw-overs, turnaround drawings, and factory-ready specification sheets.
- Create digital mockups, presentations, and sell sheets for internal and customer presentations.
- Develop products across multiple categories including airpod cases, phone cases, phone charms & accessories, headphones, charging cables, keyboards, and more.
- Create detailed factory specifications, construction guides, and packaging files.
- Work directly with overseas factories to ensure products and packaging are developed, sampled, and manufactured accurately and on schedule.
- Research trends across social media, gaming, collectibles, beauty, fashion accessories, and youth culture to develop innovative product concepts.
- Ensure products meet cost targets, quality standards, and retailer requirements.
- Adhere to licensor style guides and approval requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years of consumer product and/or retail packaging design experience.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Strong typography, layout, composition, color, and branding skills.
- Strong understanding of packaging construction, dielines, prepress, and print production.
- Strong product concepting, visualization, and illustration skills.
- Experience creating factory-ready specifications and production files.
- Understanding of consumer product materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience creating product renderings and presentation visuals.
- Working knowledge of 3D software such as Substance, Rhino, ZBrush, or Blender is a plus.
- Experience working directly with overseas factories and vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and technical problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
